Feeling SAD

The first time I remember struggling with seasonal depression was when I was 19; fall-to-winter of my first year away at college. I called my mom, trying not to cry to save face with my new roommates. I remember feeling doubt for the first time; not knowing who I was, where I was going, or if I was on the right path to get there.

This is a real thing, I googled it. And it's not limited to just the changing of fall to winter.

My worst bout of Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, was winter-to-spring of 2018; just a few months ago. Then, I laid on the couch under a blanket sobbing; not knowing who I was, where I was going, or if I was on the right path to get there.

So, here we go again... and so far, so good. As the leaves fall and the temperatures drop faster than the afternoon sun, I'm getting ready for another battle. I'm staying busy with my theatre-family, trying to get to the gym as often as possible, and, for the first time ever, I'm able to balance work and life in a healthy way (It's amazing what getting out of ministry will do for a healthy work/life balance!).

What are you struggling with right now? How are you getting ready to fight?

Name it. Let's struggle and fight together!
